Why We Exist

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is Newton's Third Law of Motion. Everything we do and take, affects the entire system. It affects the entire earth. It affects what comes and what goes.

It is not always obvious what the reaction to our action will be, but there is a beginning to intentionally building a life that supports more life. That beginning begins with recognizing that there is always a choice to be made and this choice is a declaration of our freedom. Our freedom to build or our freedom to destroy.

This earth is not our own and yet it is everyone's responsibility. How it came to be is a mystery but what we do with it is not. Some will say that it is scarce. Some will say that it will one day burn. But what do you say? I say it is abundant and when the soil is fertile, the seeds will grow. The animals will graze. The clouds will rain. And the sun will shine.

Death can be understood as the unraveling of atoms only to be built up again. Meanwhile the spirit lives on forever. And how we treat the atoms that serve as a vessel for the spirit, matters. What we put into the soil, matters. What we let runoff into the water, matters. What we spray into the air, matters. How we treat our animals, matters. How we treat our fellow mankind, matters.

Ultimately we reap what we sow. So let what you sow, matter. Give thanks for those who have sewn before you. Most of all, give thanks to the Creator who created you.

It is time for us to share in the blessing of this earth and steward it responsibly for the next generation.
